LUNDU: The Customs, Immigration and Quarantine (CIQ) Complex in Biawak, Lundu and the cross-border post (Pos Lintas Batas Negara) in Aruk Kalimantan, Indonesia will be opened on April 14.

With this latest development, State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Ik Pahon said all agencies involved must be prepared to handle incoming traffic from Indonesia.

“Although this movement of people is allowed all of them are required to comply with COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs),” he was quoted as saying by the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) on Saturday (April 9).

He added that Indonesian citizens are required to comply with four conditions when entering the country through CIQS Biawak.

“The first condition before Indonesians enter the country is that they must download, register MySejahtera and activate the MySejahtera application while the second condition is to register to get a MyTravel card and the thirdly they must show their COVID-19 test results.

“The fourth condition is that they must buy COVID-19 insurance with a minimum coverage of USD20,000,” he said.

He stressed that the insurance is important in the event they are infected with COVID-19 while in the country and will be used for them to seek treatment in private hospitals.

Earlier, Ik Pahon and relevant agencies paid a visit to CIQS Biawak and PLBN Aruk.

Also present was Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in Kuching Raden Sigit Witjaksono.

Ik Pahon also suggested to Raden Sigit that a simulation be held between the two parties on the exit and entry process at the two border gates before April 14.
