BETONG: Frank Steward Panting Sa, a student who conducted his interview for admission into Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) in a makeshift hut on a hill, has finally been accepted.

This was confirmed by UPSI vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Md Amin Md Taff in a Facebook post on Wednesday (March 2).

Prof Amin said he received a lot of messages via WhatsApp from his friends on Frank and his father’s determination to ensure UPSI admission success.

“His father built a temporary hut located about two hours from their house so that Frank could attend the interview.

“And now, Frank is officially our student. UPSI is always looking for students with high determination to carry our motto.

“And we hope Frank will bring pride to his family as well.”

On March 1, Frank received an offer letter to study at UPSI and it was handed over at the Betong District Education Office by UPSI deputy vice-chancellor (student affairs and alumni) Assoc Prof Dr Norkhalid Salimin.
