SARATOK: A man suffered injuries to his right hand after it got stuck in a rock crevice (cracks) during a fishing trip in Sungai Ulu Awik on Friday (Feb 25).
The 31-year-old man was fishing with his friend in the river around 4pm, prior to the incident.
A spokesman for the Sarawak Fire Department operations centre said they received an emergency call at 4.20pm and deployed firemen from Saratok station to the scene, about 17km from the station.
Upon arriving, the team found the man was partially under water with his right hand stuck in a rock crevice in the river.
The team took about 15 minutes to free the man’s hand from the crevice.
The team later provided initial treatment to the man’s injured hand before he was taken to Saratok Hospital for further treatment.
