KUCHING: The Kampung Petag Multipurpose Hall in Padawan will get a facelift and upgrading works are expected to start this month.

Mambong assemblyman Datuk Dr Jerip Susil said a sum of RM100,000 had been allocated under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) for 2021 for the facelift which was expected to be completed by July.

“We were supposed to start the facelift last year, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it was delayed,” he said before witnessing the handover of the RTP project site for the upgrading of the hall by the Public Works Department (JKR) to the contractor in charge, Yuki Iriz Enterprise, at Kampung Petag Multipurpose Hall on Tuesday (Feb 8).

On the hall, he said it was built under the late former Deputy Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Seri Dr James Dawos Mamit in 2014, adding that it was time to carry out relevant upgrading works for the benefit of the community.

“We urge the local community to cooperate with the contractor. Once the upgrading works are completed, we also urge the local community to look after the hall,” he said.

Meanwhile, the upgrading works, among others, will involve covering up the hall’s open space, proposed perimeter drain, spot turfing, installation of LED high bay lights, and wall mounted fans.

Also present were Kampung Petag village chief Hall Jamun, JKR Kuching engineer Lau Yik Hung, and contractor of Yuki Iriz Enterprise, Abang Mohd Saiful Rahman.
