KUCHING: The living room of a two-storey house in Tabuan Jaya caught fire while the occupants were not home today.
Firemen at Tabuan Jaya fire station were despatched to No 7, Lorong Setia Raja 4k1 after receiving a call at 1:11am. The occupants arrived at the scene soon after the firemen reached the place.
The 10 by 10 foot living room – which was also the praying room – was destroyed.
The fire was brought under control at 1:37 am and thus prevented it from spreading to other rooms.
“It is estimated that 20 percent of the entire house was destroyed.
“The cause of the fire and losses incurred are still under investigation,” said a spokesperson of the fire department.
