MUKAH: The Ministry of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs (KPDNHEP) here will organise a Malaysian Family Sale programme (PJKM) on Jan 25 and Gafu Supermarket has been selected as the venue for Mukah Parliament.

Mukah head Salihin Den said Mukah MP Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib had agreed to the programme, which could be held monthly.

He added that the programme was a government initiative aimed at helping to reduce the current high cost of living and the burden of the people.

“The programme will enable folk to obtain basic daily necessities such as sugar, flour, rice, cooking oil, processed food, vegetables, chicken eggs and others at a lower price (15-20 per cent),” he said on Tuesday (Jan 11).

He added that other popular goods could also be included during the four-hour programme beginning from 10am until 4pm.

Salihin explained that it would be held outside the Gafu premises and inside the camps to facilitate compliance of the standard operating procedures.

According to him, similar programmes would also be organised at Igan and Tanjung Manis Parliaments at separate dates.

He said it was jointly organised by the Federal Agriculture Marketing Board, Malaysian Fisheries Development Board, Malaysia Information Department and Local Authorities.
