MULU: A road linking Miri to Marudi and all the way up to Long Terawan will be built when Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) return to power.
This will be among the projects that will come the way of interior Baram, said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
He said once completed, the road would shorten travel time from Miri or Marudi to Long Terawan to only one hour and forty minutes.
“You won’t have to worry about the weather condition when travelling along the road once it is completed,” he said.
Abang Johari, who is GPS chairman, said this after officiating at the ground- breaking ceremony for the proposed site of the Mulu sub-district service centre on Thursday (Nov 25).
He said he would therefore need a huge mandate from the people in this coming election to ensure the smooth running of projects.
“Unlike the oppositions, its not a hot air talk, my track record has proven that I deliver and fulfill what has been promised,” he added.
On the Mulu service centre, Abang Johari said the project had been long overdue despite Mulu having been elevated to a sub-district back in 2015.
“The federal government had promised to provide funding for the construction but this did not come about, so the State government took over and decided to proceed with the project,” he said.
Also present were incumbent for Mulu Datuk Gerawat Gala and Minister of Utilities Sarawak Datuk Sri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom.
