KUCHING: Ensuring the wellbeing and prosperity of his Batu Kitang constituents is a source of satisfaction for incumbent Lo Khere Chiang.

Hoping that voters would return him to the helm, he said he was ready to defend the seat in the coming state polls.

“Even though it is only my first term, I have records to show that I have been working hard for the past five years – I work seven days a week.

“I’m always on the ground and many projects have been carried out such as repairing of dilapidated houses, installing septic tanks, roads and drainage,” he said when speaking to the media during a function on Tuesday (Nov 9).

Lo, who is also Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) chairman, hoped people would recognise the immense contributions made by the Sarawak government led by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.

“Under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), we will continue to assist and deliver development to the people. It was GPS that was there for the people, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic.

“For the sake of stability and progress, continue to support GPS and Abang Johari.”

On the subject of opponents for the seat, he said it would not matter as the people know the work he had done throughout the last five years.

“It is difficult to predict (who else will be contesting in Batu Kitang), but in the previous polls, it was a five-cornered fight.

“Nonetheless, it does not matter to me because I have been working for five years and have put in much effort.

“During the Covid-19 pandemic, I did not hide or run away but instead I was on the ground helping people, especially those affected by the lockdown like in Kampung Haji Baki.”
