KAPIT: Kapit Police chief, DSP Freddy Bian disclosed that for the period from January to March 2018, only nine (9) cases were recorded as compared to sixteen (16) cases in the corresponding period last year.

“This is an improvement. Most of the cases involved theft and house break-ins. Many cases could be prevented if only the property owners looked after their houses properly. For example, the back door or window was unlocked when the house was empty,” explained Freddy during the 211th Police Day celebration at Kapit Police Headquarters recently.

He attributed the low crime in the district to the close co-operation between the police and the community.

Earlier, Freddy handed out Letter of Recommendation to Inspector Muhd Nizam Mohd Izhar, Inspector Isan Sari Hassang, Inspector Norita Mohd Khairi, Sergeants Jiden Rawen, Johnny Rawing Ensegam and Roland Gasah, Corporals Philip John Tadol and Micheal Umap, Lance Corporals Muhd Hilmi Kamar Aris, Mohd Omran Omar and Amar Syarim and Constable Leonard Selin. The civilian staffs were Mariam Batok and Lington Jalong.
