KUCHING: As political uncertainty in Malaya continues, Sarawakians have been urged to continue to focus on curbing Covid-19.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, in making this call, said that many Malaysians were busy with federal politics during the weekend.

“As such, every Sarawakian must remain focused on Covid-19 as the virus does not care about politics,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (Aug 16).

He called upon Sarawakians to play their respective role and do their part by being responsible in observing the standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as physical distancing, wearing face masks, and others.

“This is so that we can continue to have low Covid-19 cases of categories four and five, and our oxygen, intensive care unit (ICU) beds and hospital system would not be overwhelmed,” he said.

Dr Sim, who is also Local Government and Housing Minister, stressed that at this stage of the pandemic, Sarawak like other countries in the world will have to change, learn and adapt to live with the virus.

“An indefinite Covid-19 lockdown is unrealistic,” he pointed out.
