SIMANGGANG: The Pencil Project Welfare has given assistance to three families whose homes were destroyed by a fire at Punggu Tapang, Jalan Sri Aman-Serian.

Its chairperson Norina Umoi Utot said although the contribution given to them was small, it was hoped that it would ease their burden.

“I also hope that follow-up action would be taken by the responsible government agencies.

“Based on information obtained, three houses were involved in the fire. Two houses were destroyed while another house was 70 percent damaged.

“Many important properties as well as documents were not able to be salvaged due to the fire,” she added.

Norina also expressed her sympathy to the victims.

“We are thankful that no lives were lost in this tragedy and I hope that the fire victims will be patient and persevere,” she said.
