SONG: Residents here were excited to welcome health officers to the Rumah Rehat Song vaccination centre (PPV) for the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (PICK).
Regina Beraoh and residents from her longhouse arrived at the PPV as early as 7.30am on June 16 for their vaccination.
“I’m not worried about getting vaccinated, instead I feel very lucky because I now have an extra protection to fight against the Covid-19 virus,” the 42-year-old said.
Alysis Samat, 46, a teacher who was also one of the recipients advised the community to go for vaccination.
“I’m very grateful and thankful to the medical officers. I would also like to thank the Sarawak Information Department (JaPen) here for actively promoting the Info On Wheels (IOW) programme as well as distributing printed materials to rural folk on the latest update regarding Covid-19.”
Meanwhile, a political secretary to the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Lidam Assan, 56, stated that PICK was the best measure to break the growing chain of Covid-19 infections.
“If you are not infected then you will not infect others. When you are not infecting others, this will result in the number of cases decreasing and eventually this pandemic will disappear on its own.
“Thus, I would like to call the public to give their cooperation to ensure the smooth implementation of this programme.”
