KUCHING: A special State Legislative Assembly (DUN) was held yesterday to commemorate 150 years of Sarawak’s representative government.

Previous special DUN sittings were also held to celebrate the DUN’s 100th and 125th anniversary.

Present to grace the ceremony was the Head of State, Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud.

Apart from that, Taib also graced the launching ceremony of DUN’s Exhibition Gallery, which was a collaborative effort by the present DUN Speaker, Datuk Asfia Awang Nassar, Assistant Minister of Corporate Affairs, Abdullah Saidol and the Sarawak Museum Department.

The exhibition gallery was set up to showcase the collection of materials and pictures filled with historical value and symbolic to DUN from its establishment in 1867 to the present time.

The gallery will be open on weekdays and closed on weekends.

From Mondays to Thursdays, it will be open from 9am to 4pm with an interval closure from 11.00am to 2.00pm.

Meanwhile on Fridays, it will be open for an hour in the morning (9am to 10am), and reopens from 2.30pm to 4pm.
