KUCHING: The Ministry of International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development (Mintred) has clarified that companies which fall under the category of Manufacturing Industries or ‘Industri Perkilangan dan Pembuatan’ are allowed to operate without applying for permission.
Mintred in a statement yesterday stated that the said industry had been listed in ‘Perkhidmatan Perlu — Sektor-Sektor Lain’ (essential service sector) in the standard operating procedure (SOP) for the state’s movement control order (MCO) which was updated on May 31.
“Companies under this category are allowed to operate from 6am to 8pm with not more than 30 percent workforce capacity at any one time. Thus, there is no need to apply for permission to operate.
“However, if a company under this category requires to operate beyond the allowable operating hours namely beyond 8pm or requires operating with more than 30 percent workforce capacity at any one time, then the company concerned must submit an application to Mintred with justification for the consideration by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC),” it said.
It also said the companies are advised to visit the ministry’s website (mintred.sarawak.gov.my) to download the necessary form.
“A letter from the employer will suffice for employees to travel to work. However, for those who are required to travel inter district, the approval from the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) is necessary,” it added.
