SARATOK: The local Member of Parliament Datuk Ali Biju has assured that food aid would be distributed immediately to residents of Kampung Tanjung Hulu and Kampung Melango Lama who are currently under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO).
He said residents need not worry but continue to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“I hope the residents continue to give their full cooperation. I understand that 32 houses with 175 residents in Kampung Tanjung Hulu and 24 houses involving 80 residents in Kampung Melango Lama are affected.
“Officers at the service centre have liaised with the Social Welfare Department, so thee food will be distributed soon.”
Ali stressed that the decision of the Betong Divisional Disaster Management Committee to implement the EMCO in both areas was to curb the spread of Covid-19.
“The EMCO directive is effective for a period of 14 days from May 5 to 18. Enforcement authorities have been instructed to block and close the entrances and exits.
“I will always be in touch with the local authorities and monitor the situation from time to time.”
