KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has announced that stricter enforcement of the existing standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be implemented.

The committee in a statement on Thursday (May 6) said, the decision was made after risk assessment and taking into consideration the current increasing trend of Covid-19 infection.

“Stricter enforcement of existing SOPs is to establish a circuit break to break the current chain of outlet.

“The SOP guidelines will be enforced from 12:01am on May 7 to 11:59pm on May 17. Members of the public can view the SOPs on the National Security Council’s (MKN) official website (https://www.mkn.gov.my/web/ms/sop-pkpb-2/),” SDMC said.

The committee also advised the people of Sarawak to postpone any travel plans to states and districts that are declared as movement control order (MCO) areas.

“Seeing as Kelantan, Selangor, Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and districts in Johor, Terengganu as well as Perak have been declared as MCO areas, we advise fellow Sarawakians to postpone any travel plans to the said states and districts throughout the enforcement period,” SDMC added.
