BAU: A temporary automotive mechanic was arrested for possessing drugs in a car workshop last Monday (Apr 19).

The district’s narcotics police raided the premises at Kampung Pengkalan around 2.35pm and detained a suspicious looking man for inspection.

Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon said the team found a plastic packet containing crystalline lumps believed to be syabu inside a red case in the man’s hand.

“The drugs weighing around 0.64g and valued at RM60 were later taken to the police station for further actions.

“Background checks found that the 32-year-old man had past records. He also tested positive for drugs,” he said.

A remand application will be applied for further investigations to be made under Section 12(2) and Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.

Poge said the district NCID would continue to curb and detect drug activities in suspected locations.

He urged the public to channel any information on such activities.

He stressed that inspections would be carried out at automobile workshops, motorcycle workshops as well as construction sites if there was any information on drug activities in these places.
