KUCHING: A consensus has not yet been reached between Pakatan Harapan (PH) Sarawak and Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) due to differences in principles, political objectives and goals.
PH Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen said the issue of seat allocation is still in discussion as PSB’s political struggles are not clear and on top of that the party’s backers are from ‘coloured personalities or groups’.
“Until we can sort out these issues, I think it will be quite difficult to come to any agreement,” he said during a press conference at the Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak’s headquarters today.
Chong also said that PH Sarawak’s main goal is to focus more on equitable distribution and sharing of wealth and resources with Sarawakians.
“We are fighting for the people and other organisations might be fighting for a selected group of people. How can we compromise on that?”
“That is why we have to sort out the consensus for the ultimate purpose of our struggles.
“We need to unite together to share our political struggles and if we can come to a consensus, then that will be easy progress forward,” he added.
When asked if there is a deadline for PSB to come to a consensus on the seat allocation, he replied it may be when the state election begins.
