KUCHING: Habitat for Indigenous and Urban Programme (Hidup) president George Young Si Ricord Jr and his team delivered food baskets to a group of six families in Kampung Quop and Kampung Siderud today.

These families consist of daily-paid earners and construction workers with school-going children under house quarantine for the next 14 days.

Most of these families have been seeking assistance from their neighbours and friends for food supply.

Following the outcry from these families, Hidup responded and despatched its team of volunteers to deliver food and necessities.

As some of these households have young children and infants, George initiated a donation drive to raise funds and also provide essential food items for young children.

He said these families’ finances suffered when they were being home-quarantined.

“We do what we can to help these vulnerable individuals and families. We aim to shed light on the conditions faced by these low-income households and how they are coping with the situation,” he said.
