KUCHING: The five-day coaching course came to a close on Sunday with Canadian coach Daniel St Hilaire who conducted the close will be sending a report on his recommendations on what he will design in the best situation to improve athletics in Sarawak.
Expressing his satisfaction, St Hilaire said he was confident the course will bring results as judged from the enthusiasm of the participants, who are mostly teachers from the various schools in Sarawak, will take up the challenge to produce athletes to make the State a powerhouse not only in local but at the international scene.
“I will sent a report on suggestions we designed for the best situations in sports development to Dr Ong Kong Swee (Sarawak Sports Corporation CEO). “I feel confident for I give them a target of what they want to be as coach in 10 years to have their mission and coaches never feel comfortable if they never learn but I gave them the information.
“One important thing is that I made them remember by making them laughed not because Im a joker and also use anecdotes for you will never learn from books or literature,” said St. Hilaire.
Apart from lecture sessions, the Canadian coach – who had coached world class athletes including Canadian sprinter and long jumper Bruny Surin and high jumper Kwanku Boateng beside our Sarawak sprinter Watson Nyambek -also gave practical sessions with the coaches and members of the local AXIS club.
