KUCHING: Concerned for the welfare of villagers placed under lockdown, Dalat assemblywoman Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah recently distributed food aid to villagers of Kampung Sungai Ud and Kampung Sungai Ud Hilir in Dalat.
She joined the Dalat District Office, Social Welfare Department, volunteers from her constituency service centre, and other frontliners to distribute the food aid.
“God willing and with the permission of my husband, I am able to join the team in sending 5,428 packets of food to the affected residents,” she said in a WhatsApp message today.
Other essential items such as milk powder and diapers were also given to children below four years old.
The Minister of Welfare, Community, Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development noted the shortage of cooking oil and assured there will be sufficient supply.
“My Ketua Wanita (Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu Women Wing) has also been tasked to prepare extra food for those who are on duty,” she added.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah last Friday announced that residents of the two villages would be placed under a targeted movement control order until Feb 9 as the number of Covid-19 positive cases in the district had increased.
