Woman rescued from crashed 4WD

MIRI:  An elderly woman was taken to Miri Hospital after being rescued from a four-wheel-drive (4WD) that crashed onto a road divider in Luak , Bakam this morning (Jan 30).

Six firemen from Miri fire station had to remove the vehicle’s front windscreen and use hydraulic rescue equipment to free the victim, identified as Baya Laing, 61, who was trapped inside, after the collision occurred.

Meanwhile, the 4WD’s driver, identified as Andrias Imang, 62, was rescued by members of the public.

According to Miri Fire and Rescue department (Bomba) zone 6 chief Supt Law Poh Kiong, firemen from Miri fire station were despatched to the scene receiving the distress call at 10.46am.

The rescue operation started at 10.55am and ended at 11.30am.

The police and ambulance were also presence.
