KUALA LUMPUR: The Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) is offering fee exemption for application of several existing trademarks and patents, from Jan 1 to June 30 this year.
MyIPO director-general Datuk Mohd Roslan Mahayudin said the six-month fee exemption is for companies and individuals affected by Covid-19.
“This initiative is offered to the B40 group who receive Bantuan Sara Hidup or Bantuan Prihatin Nasional or whose income had been affected.
“As for partnership businesses, associations, corporations or institutions, the offer is for those whose moratorium extension had been approved, who have cash flow problems and have difficulty in paying their debts,” he said in a statement on Monday.
He said the trademark fee exemption would be given for amendments to the applicant’s name or address, of which the actual cost is RM20 for each application.
Fee exemptions are also given for time extension applications and proceedings of which the actual cost is RM100 per month as well as the manual filing of documents of which the actual cost is RM2 per page, he added.
‘’Meanwhile, for patents and certifications which expire between Jan 1 and June 30, 2021, the owner is given six months to renew them without being charged any late fee imposed,” he said. – Bernama
