Remains of three victims in the Triso tragedy brought back to Sibu

SIBU: The remains of three of the nine persons who died in the Triso ferry point tragedy were safely brought back here Sunday morning.

The hearse carrying the remains of Lorna Ting, 33, Alvin Phang 12, and Wallace Phang, 7 arrived at the Mortuary House at Bukit Lima here at about 1am.

Accompanying the hearse from Sri Aman were Lorna’s mother, Munah Agon and other close family members.

The hearse carrying the remains arrives at the Mortuary House at Bukit Lima in Sibu.

It was a sad day for family members and friends who have waited for the remains to arrive.

An immediate family member said the bodies of the three victims would be placed at Mortuary House for two days to enable families and friends to pay their last respects.

A funeral service for the three victims will take place on Tuesday (Jan 5) at Nirvana Memorial Park, Sibu following Chinese customs at 8am.

Meanwhile, the other six victims were buried at the Muslim cemetery at Kampung Hulu in Sri Aman on Saturday (Jan 2).

They were Siti Aishah Abdullah, 36, and her five children, Nor Shuhada Mohamad, 16, Khairunnisa Muhamad, 14, Mohd Aiman Mohd Hamdan, 7, Muhd Mustaqim Mohd Hamdan, 5, and Mohd Ahmad Mohd Hamdan, 4 months.
