BAU: An unemployed man was arrested for allegedly injuring his brother with a karambit knife (Indonesian silat weapon) at Kampung Lidah Tanah, Batu Kitang on Wednesday.
District police chief DSP Poge Nyaon said a police report was lodged by the suspect’s brother after the incident outside his house around 8.30pm.
Before the incident, the complainant saw his brother scaring people with a knife he carried in his right hand.
When the complainant told the suspect off, the latter attempted to stab him with the knife.
“The complainant managed to ward off the attack but sustained injuries to his wrist. He immediately lodged a police report for his family’s safety,” said Poge.
Following the report, a Bau CID team went to arrest the 28-year-old suspect in front of a mosque in Kampung Lidah Tanah.
Poge said police seized the weapon used by the suspect to injure his brother and the suspect.
Background checks on the suspect found no previous criminal record.
The suspect is remanded to facilitate investigations under Section 324 of the Penal Code and Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act 1958.
