KUCHING: Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii hoped that the upcoming federal 2021 Budget would focus more on the country’s healthcare system.

He said an ‘over-investment’ was crucially needed for the healthcare system in the country.

“Covid-19 was a stress test for our healthcare system and in some places, we have seen the effects of years of neglect and under-investment not just on infrastructure, but also in human resources,” he said in a Facebook post today.

He said therefore, the government must have a mid-term and long-term plan to strengthen the country’s healthcare system.

“This is not just to deal with Covid-19 alone but also not to neglect other diseases that are still affecting the people.

“Investment in health is a long term investment to our country. Health is wealth,” he stressed.

Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz is expected to present the budget on Nov 6 in Parliament.
