MIRI: In reducing the chances of being seen or noticed, a group of burglars used a large-sized curtain to cover the gate of a home in Pujut 6 here while they ransack the place.

The house is owned by a Japanese man, who is working with an oil and gas company here, and was left unattended.

A patrolling team of the Pujut Residents Committee (RC), during their routine at the area, pulled over at the house after spotting the curtain, which was placed in a suspicious manner, on the gate.

According to the RC chairman Malateh Mahmud, who was leading the patrol team, they arrived at the scene at 1.20am on Sunday (Oct 11).

“Once we gained access into the house, we saw a Toyota Camry car that had been dismantled by the burglars,” said Malateh.

He said about two to four suspects fled the scene upon noticing the team’s arrival.

“We have notified the house owner’s son, who is currently staying in Permyjaya, regarding the incident,” said Malateh.
