SERIAN: There are no janji aek liur (false promises) when it comes to the state government’s effort to bring development to Serian Division.
In stating this, Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin Jawong said nearly all of the approved development projects here were being implemented.
“As the elected representative (Tebedu assemblyman) in the area, I often hear people say that this is janji aek liur… No!
“During the State Development Coordination Committee Meeting (SDCCM), it was informed that nearly all approved projects are either currently being implemented or will be implemented soon,” he revealed during a dialogue session at Dewan SJK Chung Hua Serian after attending the SDCCM meeting held earlier today.
Manyin said during the meeting, Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg and other state dignitaries were briefed on the implementation status of approved projects, particularly for Serian Division.
“The chief minister assures all announced and approved projects will be implemented in an orderly manner and completed on schedule,” he said.
With that, Manyin revealed that the division’s administrative complex was set for completion by May next year.
He said the project was initially scheduled for completion in February but was delayed because of the Covid-19 pandemic.
“This is a big project costing RM130 million.
“The second one is the convention centre which is 55 percent completed and costs RM80 million, not RM8 million, but RM80 million,” he said, adding that the Tebedu District Office would also be completed by December this year.
Manyin lauded the state government for providing basic amenities for the locals here. He revealed that Serian had achieved 99.9 percent grid electricity access.
“There are still many areas with coverage of about 70 to 80 percent. However, we in Serian have achieved 99.9 percent,” he said while commending Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom for the effort.
He added that over 90 percent of the population here had access to clean water
supply.
