KUCHING: A two-storey workers’ dormitory building was completely razed in an inferno at Pending Industrial Estate (Shin Yang) on Monday (Sept 14).
According to State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), a distress call about the incident was received around 9.01pm, and a team of firefighters was immediately despatched to the scene.
“The fire operations commander found that the non-permanent two-storey workers’ dormitory housed 12 units or rooms, namely six upstairs and another six downstairs. There was a diesel fuel tank and also a pile of tires near the scene of the incident which were all successfully removed.
“The total area involved is 736 square metres, with each unit measuring 29 metres x 8 square metres.
“25 occupants of the residence, including two babies managed to escape the blaze,” the statement said.
There was no casualty reported and the operation ended at 11.37pm.
