Biker, pillion rider killed in collision

KOTA SAMARAHAN: A male motorcyclist and his female pillion rider were killed in a collision involving a bike, a lorry and a car.

The victims were identified as Hazel Martin, 18, and Lee Kim Lung, 24, from Kampung Sungai Riset.

State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Chief, Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the 11.10am incident happened at Jalan Kota Samarahan/Mambong.

He said the motorcycle was heading to Siburan when it collided with the lorry which was travelling from Siburan to Kota Samarahan.

“Lee was stuck and dragged under the lorry while Hazel fell onto the road and was hit by another car from behind, which was heading towards Kota Samarahan,” Alexson said in a statement.

Both Lee and Hazel were pronounced dead at the scene. Their remains were taken to Sarawak General Hospital for further action.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of Road Transport Act 1987.
