No new Covid-19 cases for Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded no new positive Covid-19 cases today for the fifth consecutive day, with the total number of positive cases in the state thus far remaining unchanged at 699.

In a statement today, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said that five new cases had recovered and been discharged from hospitals — one from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) and four from Bintulu Hospital.

With this, the total number of recovered and discharged Covid-19 cases thus far has increased to 668 or 95.57 percent.

“Twelve individuals are still receiving treatment at hospital isolation wards. Of these, seven are being treated at Bintulu Hospital, four in SGH, and one in Miri Hospital,” said the committee.

They said that seven new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported and no PUIs were awaiting laboratory test results.

As of today, there was one remaining active cluster in the state, namely the Alam Cluster in Bintulu involving eight cases. SDMC said that 78 persons-under-surveillance (PUS) were checked into hotels on Friday to undergo quarantine, bringing the total number of PUS at 12 hotels to 669, while 23,417 PUS had completed their quarantine period.
