TATAU: Growing vegetables and livestock farming on a large scale can help families generate extra income, said Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs) Datuk John Sikie Tayai.

“A household income of RM4,000 per family can be achieved if the community participates in agriculture activities on a large scale,” he told the people during a “Leader with the people” session at Rh Chendang, Sungai Keladan, Tatau on Sunday (Aug 16).

He, therefore, urged them to prioritise agricultural activities which could be commercialised.

He pointed out that agricultural produce sold in the market could provide lucrative incomes.

“With such incomes, families will be able to pay for their children’s education in the future,” he said.

Sikie, who is also the Kakus assemblyman, also announced a RM21,000 grant for the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rh Chengdang.

He also presented 22 water tanks to the longhouse.
