KUCHING: A hair salon, located on the ground floor of a two-storey shophouse near the old Betong bus terminal in Betong was partially destroyed in a fire last Friday night.
According to the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), seven personnel from Betong fire station, were dispatched to the scene upon receiving an emergency call at 9.27pm.
Upon arrival at the scene at 9.29pm, the firefighters took about an hour to douse the blaze.
It was reported that 10 personnel from Betong volunteer firefighting unit, who arrived at the scene first, tried to put out the fire using a fire extinguisher, but failed.
About 40 per cent of the salon, measuring 20×30 feet, was damaged and no injuries and human casualties were reported.
