KUCHING: Sarawak has now been categorised as a green zone as there have been no locally transmitted cases in all districts in the last 14 days.

State Disaster Management Committee chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said the last locally transmitted case was recorded in Kuching.

Uggah said no local transmissions were recorded in the last 14 days in the state. Although there had been several positive cases recorded by SDMC recently, they were imported cases.

“We (SDMC) wish to thank all Sarawakians for your compliance with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“However, we should not be complacent because the war against the disease is not over yet,” he told a daily Covid-19 press update yesterday.

In another development, Uggah announced that all teachers returning to Sarawak after their vacation would not have to undergo compulsory quarantine.

“This is with immediate effect. However, they are subject to a random Covid-19 swab test at the airport upon arrival.

“As for visitors who have to cross Brunei by land (across the border), they are not required to get SDMC and police approval.

“However, for those who have stayed overnight or entered Brunei on transit via air, then these people are required to get SDMC approval to enter Sarawak,” he said.
