BINTULU: The government is planning to expand Bintulu town ― ‘Abang Jo’s’ way.
Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg said, the state government was planning to transform two areas namely Jepak and Kidurong by building affordable housing, similar to Kuching and Sibu, with some of the construction cost to be borne by the government.
“We want to improve housing affordability for the people … where they can buy the houses at prices ranging from RM90,000 to RM100,000,” he said during his visit to Tanjong Kidurong Methanol plant here.
He added that the government had identified a 30-acre site in Kidurong for the purpose.
“At normal price, the houses would cost about RM300,000 and above, but Sarawak government under Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), we bear some of the construction cost so that the rakyat can afford to buy the houses,” he said.
On another note, he said that plans were also in the pipeline to resolve flash flood problems in Bintulu.
