KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has announced that licensed lottery operators in the state will be permitted to resume operations starting Friday.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas emphasised that these outlets must be registered with the Finance Ministry and also comply with the set standard operating procedure (SOP) and guidelines.
In Malaya, licensed lottery operators were allowed to resume operations starting yesterday.
“Night markets, day markets, and weekend markets are allowed to resume operations starting Saturday (June 20),” Uggah said at the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Covid-19 daily update press conference yesterday.
He also said that express buses and stage buses were allowed to operate at full capacity starting yesterday, adding that detailed guidelines were available from the Ministry of Transport Sarawak.
“The schooling session will begin on June 24 as announced by the Ministry of Education. Therefore, school buses and vans are allowed to operate at full capacity, subject to compliance with the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Transport Sarawak,” he said.
Uggah, who is also SDMC chairman, assured that the process of teachers returning from Malaya to Sarawak for the upcoming resumption of schools was still ongoing and planned.
On another matter, he announced that Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) members who had been in Malaysia during the movement control order (MCO) period and had already undergone the quarantine process and Covid-19 screening would be allowed to enter Sarawak without having to undergo quarantine again.
“More economic sectors have been allowed to resume. However, at the same time, we have to be concerned with health matters. This is why compliance with the SOPs is very important,” he emphasised.
The SOPs for reopening of night markets, day markets, and weekend markets will be available on the Ministry of Local Government and Housing website.
