RTD to resume counter operations for commercial vehicles on Wednesday

KUALA LUMPUR: The Road Transport Department (RTD) will resume operations of its counter services on Wednesday (April 29) specifically for matters regarding commercial vehicles covering goods, tourism and public service.

In a statement today, RTD said the counters will be operated from 8 am to 1 pm and will not involve private, taxis or e-hailing vehicles.

It added that the services at the counter will include the renewal of the Motor Vehicle License (LKM), Malaysian Driving License and Vocational License (GDL and PSV) as well as matters involving blacklist settlement and payment of summonses of the LKM, GDL and PSV.

“Meanwhile, the exemption for the LKM renewal for drivers of private, taxis and e-hailing vehicles given during the MCO is still valid and applicable, provided that their vehicles have valid insurance coverage, throughout the service and operations,” said the statement.

Meanwhile, the list of the RTD counters involved are as follows;

Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur RTD in Wangsa Maju and branches in Bandar Sri Permaisuri and Manjalara; Negeri Sembilan RTD in Seremban and branches in Kuala Pilah and Jempol; Johor RTD in Johor Bahru and branches in Muar, Segamat, Batu Pahat, Kluang, Pontian and Mersing.

In Penang, it involves RTD in Seberang Jaya and Batu Uban; Bukit Katil RTD, Melaka; Perlis RTD in Arau, Kelantan RTD in Kota Baru, Terengganu RTD in Kuala Terengganu and Labuan RTD.

In Kedah, the counters are in Alor Setar and branches in Sungai Petani and Langkawi; Selangor RTD in Shah Alam and branches in Petaling Jaya, Bangi, Banting, Kuala Kubu Bahru and Sabak Bernam; Pahang RTD in Kuantan and branches in Temerloh and Raub; Perak RTD in Ipoh and branches in Taiping, Manjung and Teluk Intan.

As for Sarawak, the counters are Kuching RTD and branches in Sri Aman, Sarikei, Bintulu, Sibu and Miri; while in Sabah the counters are state RTD in Kota Kinabalu and branches in Sandakan, Tawau, Lahad Datu, Keningau, Beaufort and Kota Marudu.

The statement added that other counter services will be announced per current developments of the Covid-19 pandemic and the government’s decision on the MCO.

“Members of the public are advised to adhere to the Covid-19 precautionary guidelines while at the counters and encouraged to use the e-payment methods,” the statement said. – Bernama
