KUCHING: The Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) has been taking proactive measures to protect orangutans at the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre here from the Covid-19 pandemic.

“There is a lot to be done ― feeding, cleaning and everything in between,” it said on a Facebook post on Tuesday.

SFC said that its main priority now is to ensure the orangutans are safe and their needs are met in every way.

The Semenggoh Wildlife Centre is temporarily closed, and its dedicated team has been cleaning areas of the centre frequented by the orangutans.

In other recent posts on their Facebook page, SFC expressed its appreciation to frontliners battling Covid-19 and urged members of the public to stay at home.

SFC also cautioned the public about fake news and advised them to check and verify such information prior to sharing.
