Friday prayers proceed within guidelines

PUTRAJAYA: Friday prayers in the Federal Territories yesterday were held within the guidelines of containing Covid-19 infections.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri said this was consented to by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

“Friday prayers in the Federal Territories today will continue in accordance with the guidelines that the sermons be shortened and members of the congregation perform their ablutions at home,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Zulkifli added people with symptoms of Covid-19 and others who are sick do not need to attend the Friday prayers.

He said the mosque authorities and members of the congregation should also have hand sanitisers and masks at hand, as a precautionary measure. – Bernama
