MUKAH: Two students from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Three Rivers scored the maximum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.00 in Sijil Tinggi Pelarajan Malaysia (STPM) 2019 when the result was announced simultaneously nationwide on Tuesday.

The duos were Mohd Sharmizi Shaferi from Kampung Sungai Kut Muara, Dalat and Edry Fredric Andy from Kampung Jebungan, Mukah.

The result was said to be comparatively better than 2018 when only one student achieved the excellent result.

SMK Three Rivers, the sole premier status school in Mukah Division, recorded a school average grade (GPS) of 3.21, compared with 2.68 in the previous year.

Despite a drop in GPS, the result showed an improvement in terms of quality as more students scored 3.0 and above, as well as better performance in certain subjects.

Some 110 students sat for the examination last year compared with 79 in 2018.

School principal Silvester Alan William was satisfied with the result.
