Women claim names registered for party polls without their knowledge
SIBU: Two women have given their statements to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here pertaining to their names being used by certain individuals to vote at the PKR Igan division election.
The duo, Nurul Fitri Jamal, 31 and Nah Ragus, 60 filed a police report after the October 6 election. They claimed that their names had been registered as members of PKR Igan division without their knowledge.
They also claimed that prior to the election, they were offered by someone to vote in favour of a certain group. They also alleged that someone had cast the ballot on their behalf at the party polls.
Sibu PKR Division chief Abdul Raafidin, who accompanied the duo to the MACC office here, said there were five persons whose names had been registered without their knowledge and approval weeks before the election.
However, only the two women came forward to file police reports.
“They want MACC to investigate the persons involved in registering them as a member of the division. As money had allegedly changed hands, they also want MACC to investigate it,” he added.
Raafidin said the duo only knew that their names had been registered as members of the division when they checked online.
