88 STPM candidates obtain perfect CGPA

KUCHING: A total of 88 school candidates in Sarawak have obtained a perfect 4.00 Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) for the Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM).

State Education Department (JPNS) director Datuk Dr Azhar Ahmad said a total of 1,190 candidate achieved a CGPA between 3.00 and 3.99.

However, the overall CGPA for STPM 2023 slightly decreased to 2.69, compared to 2.75 in 2022.

“On another note, eight out of 21 subjects recorded an increase in full pass percentage compared to 2022, with the Accounting subject retaining a 100 per cent pass rate.

“Some of the subjects that saw an improvement are Kesusasteraaan Melayu Komunikatif (KMK), Economy, Mathematics (M), Biology, Sports Science and Visual Arts.”

He said during the STPM results announcement at Auditorium JPNS here on Tuesday (July 23).

He added that 16 schools in Sarawak obtained outstanding results with CGPAs exceeding 3.00.

“The 16 schools are SMK Sacred Heart Sibu, SMK Chung Hua SIbu, SMK Saribas Betong, SMK Merbau Miri, SMK Kampung Nangka Sibu, SMK Sungai Merah Sibu, SMK Bandar Sibu, SMK Methodist Sibu, SMK St Anthony Sarikei, SMK Green Road Kuching, SMK Asajaya Samarahan, SMK Agama Sheikh Haji Othman Abdul Wahab Padawan, SMK Rosli Dhoby Sibu, SMK Durin Sibu and SMK Batu Lintang Kuching.”

Azhar also revealed that 27 candidates obtained a full pass in five subjects, 3,919 candidates in four subjects, 913 candidates in three subjects, 438 candidates in two subjects and 304 candidates in at least one subject.”

Candidates can obtain their STPM certificates from their respective schools starting at 11.30am.

Apart from that, the candidates can also obtain their results from the Malaysian Examination Council (MPM) portal at http://stpm.mpm.edu.my/stpm from 11.30am onwards
