708,187 children in Malaysia receive Covid-19 vaccine

KUCHING: A total of 708,187 children aged five to 11 in Malaysia have received their first dose of vaccine under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme for Children (PICKids) as of yesterday.

According to the CovidNow website, the number represents 19.9 per cent of the country’s total population for the age group of five to11.

For those aged 12 to 17, a total of 2,799,784 individuals or 90 per cent of this age group, have completed two doses.

Meanwhile, 61.1 per cent of the adult population in the country have received their booster jab and 97.5 per cent have completed their vaccination (yet to receive booster)
A total of 23, 226,005 or 98.7 per cent of those eligible have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
