KUALA LUMPUR: At just six years old, Maleeq Dragster (pic) has made history by earning a spot in the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR) as the most successful child pushbike champion in international competitions. Maleeq, full name Wan Ayden Maleeq Wan Muhd Muzri, secured 14 titles in a year, including winning the world champion title in the five-year-old category at the Run Bike Series (RCS) Championship in Tokyo.

His father, Datuk Seri Wan Muhd Muzri, praised Maleeq’s achievements, highlighting the potential of pushbike sports to nurture young athletes. Maleeq defended his title in Japan for two consecutive years and won in countries like Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Singapore, while also dominating local championships in Malaysia.

Despite balancing rigorous training at night with his school schedule, Maleeq excelled at the Rockfish Cup International Championship 2024. His father, who is also The M8 Cycling Club president, announced that Maleeq will compete in Japan again this month, representing Malaysia with his siblings and other young riders.

Regarding Maleeq’s future after pushbike sports, he said his son aims to pursue a career in Mini GP motorsport racing, supported by a collaboration between M8 Malaysia and ZK Racing.

“This programme provides talented children with the opportunity to advance further. Sports like these not only build self-confidence but also help children socialise with their peers,” he added. – BERNAMA
