56 drivers get RTD notices, three motorcycles confiscated

MIRI: Fifty-six drivers were served non-compliance noticed by the Road Transport Department (RTD) during an operation codenamed ‘Ops Khas Gempur Teknikal’ yesterday (Feb 19).

According to Sarawak RTD, the operation was carried out by its Miri Operation Unit and Motorcycle Enforcement Unit across the city and Jalan Miri-Bintulu.

The team inspected a total of 358 various vehicles and issued 56 non-compliance notices against drivers of commercial vehicles.

Among the offences detected were driving without a licence, lacking insurance coverage, expired driving licence, failing to comply with traffic signals, violating Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (CVLB) permit conditions, and other technical offences.

The team also confiscated three motorcycles for various offences.

Sarawak RTD said that they will continue to conduct such to monitor, detect and take action against motorists, who fail to comply and commit offenses under the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Rules thereunder; the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act 1987; and the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

The department reminded all road users to adhere to traffic laws and prioritise road safety.
