505 houses to be built under People’s Housing Programme in Lambir

The Ministry of Local Government and Housing through the Housing Development Corporation (HDC)  identified and applied for government land in Lambir in 2016 for the purpose of increasing the  houses under the People’s Housing Programme in Miri.

Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health, Dr. Annuar Rapa’ee revealed this during the Question & Answer (Q&A) session at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting held at the new DUN  here yesterday.

He said 505  houses would be provided with infrastructure  such as community hall, surau, playgrounds, kindergartens and farmers’ markets for the People’s Housing Programme in Sungai Rait. 

Annuar was replying to a question submitted by Lambir State Assemblyman, Ripin Lamat.

Annuar, who is also Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research, also replied to the questions submitted by Bukit Assek State Assemblywoman, Irene Mary Chang Oi Ling.

He disclosed that the total number of both skilled and unskilled registered foreign workers in Sarawak for the year 2015 was 149,576.

“Their percentage against the total workforce based on the sectors are as follows: Manufacturing 38.6 percent; mining and quarrying  33.8 percent; agriculture, forestry and fishing 27.4 percent;  construction 10.2 percent; wholesale and retail trade, accommodation and food and beverage service activities  8.6 percent; community, social and personal services  6.8 percent; financial and insurance activities, business services 1.0 percent; education 0.7 percent and transportation and storage, information and communication 0.7 percent,” said Annuar.
