KUCHING: Tabung Baitulmal Sarawak (TBS) distributed school essentials to 50 asnaf or underprivileged children in the Kuching division under the “Back to School” Programme today.

General manager of TBS, Datuk Abang Mohd Shibli Abang Mohd Nailie handed out the items in preparation for the upcoming school term on March 11 at the Ummah Distribution Centre (UDC), Medan Hamidah here.

“TBS will distribute school essentials like school bags, writing equipment and more to 2,396 children from families in need throughout the state,” he said during a press conference at UDC.

Abang Mohd Shibli expressed his hope that the “Back To School” programme would instill motivation in asnaf children as they begin the school year next week.

“We must understand the value of education for our fellow Muslims, especially if we wish to break from the cycle of poverty, and the greatest course of action is always to immerse oneself with knowledge,” he said.
