LUNDU: A total of 50 children from the asnaf (needy) group in the Tanjong Datu constituency received donations in the form of clothing essentials for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Federal Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri officiated at the handover ceremony in conjunction with ‘Sinar Syawal’ programme held at a supermarket here today (March 22).

The Hari Raya clothing donations were sponsored by Alliance Islamic Bank Bhd.

Nancy stated that the donations are intended to lighten the load for parents and guardians as they prepare for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

“Ramadan is a time for Muslims to amplify their acts of charity and kindness.

“Hence, it is crucial to give more during this blessed month, particularly to support those in need,” said Nancy, who also serves as the Santubong Member of Parliament.

This year is the third time that the programme, a joint initiative by the National Welfare Foundation (YKN) and Alliance Islamic Bank, is being organised.
