KUCHING: A four-wheel-drive (4WD) vehicle was slightly damaged in a fire at a petrol station in Medan Jaya, Bintulu yesterday afternoon.

According to a statement by the State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), five personnel in a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) machinery, led by Senior Fire Officer II Helman Main, from Bintulu fire station were dispatched to the scene after being informed about the incident at 12.19pm.
Upon arrival at the scene, about 4 kilometres from the station, at 12.24pm, the firefighters were told that the fire was put out by a member of the public using a fire extinguisher.
It was reported that the owner of the 4WD was filling up a plastic oil drum placed at the rear of the vehicle when it suddenly caught fire.
As a result of the incident, a section of the canvas-covered trunk of the vehicle was damaged.
Less than 10 per cent of the vehicle was damaged and no injuries and human casualties were reported.
