44 flood evacuees return home

The PPS at Kanowit Sports Complex Hall was officially closed at 2 pm, and 44 evacuees returned to their homes.

KANOWIT: Fine weather and receding floodwaters have allowed 44 evacuees to return to their respective longhouses yesterday (Jan 17).

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) Secretariat, the temporary relief centre (PPS) at the Kanowit Sports Complex Hall was officially closed at 2 pm.

On Monday morning (Jan 13), the residents were evacuated to the PPS after their longhouses were submerged in floodwaters up to three feet deep.

The affected longhouses were Rh Leo Nanga Lipus, Rh Alice Jimmy, Rh Alexander Batu 12, Rh Geoffey, and Rh Joseph Rantau Kemiding.
